Edward fell in love with Africa from a very young age. In fact, from birth. Born and raised in Cape Town, he moved to Virginia during elementary school. With a Swedish father, American mother, and family spread across the globe, travel was an integral part of Edward’s life from a young age, and he grew to love it. His travels have led him across North America, Europe, and South America. Now living in New York after graduating from university, Edward felt it was time once again to reconnect with Africa. By chance, he met Jeff and was soon brought on to the ASC team as Social Media Manager for African Safari Consultants new launch and rebranding effort. Jeff and Edward continue to work diligently to bring you all the most exciting safari news, so stay tuned!

What do you enjoy most about the safari industry? The fact that it’s in Africa! And other things too I guess. I love the diversity of experiences that the safari industry has to offer. There are millions of ways that a typical vacation could unfold, and that makes everyday exciting.
Your most memorable moment on safari? When I was about 7, I went on a family trip to Kruger Park. One night we booked a tour on one of the camp’s canvas-top buses and my dad let me operate the spotlight. As we drove along, all of a sudden we heard a deafening rumble. I immediately shone the light down the side of the bus and two male lions lazily strolled up next to us. One jumped up and put his two front paws on the side of the bus, a mere three feet from me. I’ll never forget that feeling of pure power rumbling through my chest. Totally awesome!
Your favorite safari destination? For me it’s got to be South Africa, only because that’s the only destination I’ve visited so far. Nonetheless, the beauty and wild factor that you find in any park makes them all a fantastic choice for a vacation!
Your favorite animal? The cheetah, no doubt. Speed, grace, beauty, and elegance all combined into one thrilling cat. My mom got to pet a cheetah when we were living in South Africa (she said it purred like a massive house cat). I wanted to do it as well but I was too young. I’ve never quite gotten over the jealousy.
