Have you ever heard a hippo underwater? Probably not. Surprisingly, up to 80% of communication between hippopotamuses occurs while they are actually beneath the surface. A combination of squeals, grunts, and clicks, as well as the familiar wheeze-honk noise, makes up the hippos’ melodious underwater chatter. Click on the link below, courtesy of The Bushcamp Company, to listen to a harmonious hippo for yourself!

When we told everyone about the incredible, customized trip that you put together for us in such a short period of time, they all wanted your name and number. We gave it out and simply said that you were the best! The trip truly was everything we wanted it to be. The camps you selected were outstanding--the food, people and activities could not have been more incredible. We loved every minute of it and want to return again and maybe bring our family. I just got back to the office. I don't have my photos on this computer yet, but I will forward some when I get them on here. Jen and I absolutely LOVED all of the camps/hotels you chose. They all had something different to offer and we were so pleased with all of them. I think my favorite was Thornybush because the accommodations were superb and the game viewing was truly spectacular. However, Nottens was warm and the people and FOOD was unbelievable. So, it is really hard to say what was the best. The falls were very low on water, but we got a great baboon show while we were there. All in all it was the trip of a lifetime and Jennifer and I cannot thank you enough. All of our flights and transports went flawlessly. We have you to thank for that. Your planning was perfect. Ilze you are fabulous! Again, we cannot thank you enough for the greatest vacation we have ever had. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! With great admiration and love, Lynda and Jennifer
Dear Jeff and Camille – So nice to get your holiday greeting and bad me for not ever writing “officially” to thank you both for the most amazing experience of my life – Simbambili and my safari experience. Your nose and ears must have been itching dozens upon dozens of times as I’ve recounted my adventure to friends and family and colleagues – and most recently, in our holiday letter. It still seems a bit like a dream…Funny, people have said things like, “Wow, now you can check that off your bucket list.” And I always reply, “Check it off?! Now I just want to go on safari again and again!” My time at Simbambili was life changing and life enhancing and there’s something about Africa that seems to have gotten under my skin. Guess that happens doesn’t it? Endless thanks to you both for helping to make my childhood dream come true! You guys rock! Happy holidays and all good things to you in the New Year ahead! Warmly, Melissa
Hi Ilze, We are writing to thank you for organising such a fantastic trip for us. Without doubt, it was the best trip ever for us, even though we travel overseas from Australia regularly and all our trips have been great. Africa was the last of the major continents for us to visit and your superb organisation made it wonderfully unforgettable for us. Without exception, we loved each of the places you recommended and arranged for us to stay in: Cape Cadogan/Cape Town, Villa Violet/Windhoek, Kulala, Swakopmund, Dora !Nawas, Etosha/Onguma, Ilala/Victoria Falls, Chobe, Savute and Xugana. Each location provided something a little different and fascinating. Each was excellent: friendly, helpful and professional staff, outstanding accommodation, food and drinks, fabulous guides and activities, great wildlife and settings. We were enthralled. And your travel advice was flawless: accurate, comprehensive and valuable. We can't thank you enough for making our first journey to African (and hopefully not our last) so absolutely wonderful. We also really appreciated meeting you, even briefly, in Cape Town. We have no hesitation in recommending you and your company to any of our friends who plan to visit Africa. Also we would be glad to post our views on your website or trip advisor. We plan to place enthusiastic reviews of each of the places we stayed and of the activities on trip advisor, but first wanted to pass on our most sincere thanks to you for your efforts on our behalf. Thanks to your efforts our trip was flawless, seamless and fantastic. You do great work! Thanks again so much. Very best wishes, Don and Gael Gartside.
Hi Jeff and Leisl! We JUST walked in the door from our fabulous holiday! We all cannot thank you ENOUGH for all the hard work and effort that all of you put into this vacation for us. Believe it or not, absolutely EVERYTHING fell into place.....there was NEVER anything that was not taken care of from our first day in the Mara until the minute we left Zanzibar. Even the fire at Nairobi airport did NOT affect us or our travel plans. Of course we are ALL quite jet-lagged at the moment and cannot think straight. My son and daughter, who have the expensive cameras, have easily over a 1,000 pictures each while I have a mere 400 photos. Liesl, just to let you know, we saw 2 amazing crossings!!! And happily, without any fatalities! (However, there was one baby 'wildie' who got stuck in the rocks :() I will be in touch next week....once I am clear headed. THANK you ALL for an EXTRAORDINARY job!!! I will be happy to address any questions that you would like. My children are both quite familiar with tripadvisor. They will be posting their feedback.....all very positive in that website. They will probably be posting about the individual camps and guides. I am not sure they are familiar with your organization and I would be happy to pass along any place where they can comment on your excellant skills. We'll be in touch! Best, Pattie
