Non-birders on safari Now here is a dilemma. We recently had a couple who all in all had a fantastic safari in Botswana and Kruger except for one recurring problem….They proclaimed to not be very interested in birds, but just as luck would have it, they found themselves on game drives with keen birders, or [...]

Dear Ilze, We arrived home Friday afternoon - tired, jet lag - but very happy, thanks to you. From the moment we met up with Myrtle until we left J'burg all was grand. The hotel in Cape Town was lovely and your recommendations for dinner was just right. The weather did not cooperate (table mountain was always covered!) however, we were able to see so much and learn a great deal from our guide. The drive to Stellenbosch as well as the vineyards we visited was good. Majeka House was beautiful and our dinner that evening quite nice. Our safari. Wow!! We could not have asked for a better stay. From the time we arrived until we left all was more than we could have hoped for. The accommodations were lovely. Our guide and tracker the greatest. Meals delicious. Staff very gracious. And we saw the "big 5" time and time again. All in all - you did well!! Victoria Falls - the falls are beyond description. Breakfast outstanding. And J'burg. The Residence Hotel - beautiful. Dinner and breakfast wonderful. Service was grand. Changes? Even though we enjoyed our stay at Majeka House - think we'd been better off driving back to Cape Town. Each of our transfer drivers were on time and helpful. Thank you ever so much for all your planning - and as I mentioned before - you did great. We certainly will recommend you to our friends. Regards, Diane & Marvin Kegerreis
Hi Ms Lize, We are back home sound and safe. We had lovely time. We appreciate the way you had organized. Trip was simply superb and we had fabulous time. Every thing was so perfect. We just can't stop talking about the trip. All hotels were very good and people were very courteous and friendly, except for the Somerstand hotel in Port Elizabeth . The bathrooms were not clean. The person in the front office was not very friendly and took long to check in. Our guide and driver mr.David was very helpful and kind. We had a perfect vacation and enjoyed every moment. We thank you for organizing such a lovely and perfect holiday for us. ..The accommodation in every place was good: starting from Johanesburg, Kruger(simply fantastic), Hippo Halo in Hazy View (beautiful), Cape Town Taj Hotel (fantastic), the farm at Outdshoorn was the crowning glory of our trip -wish we had spent one more day. Our special thanks to all the guides locha and Jason in Kruger, Phillip, Atil, and David who were very friendly and helpful. Last certainly not the least ,thanks to you for organizing things so well! Regards, Revathi Narayanan
If you are looking for an African adventure, look no further than African Safari Consultants to help you plan it. We were planning a self-drive tour through Namibia, a visit to Victoria Falls and stays at several of the fly-in game-viewing lodges in Botswana. While we had a pretty good idea of the places we wanted to see, we needed help with customizing our itinerary and making all of the necessary arrangements. Having sent our queries to six companies that claim to specialize in African safaris, this was the only one that provided a timely and detailed response. Our consultant was Ilze Foxx from the Cape Town office, who provided us with the best service we have ever had from a travel agent. She helped us shape our ideas into a travel plan that provided everything we could have wished for in terms of game viewing, sightseeing, accommodation and transport. Her attention to detail and availability at all times, both before and during the trip, made our African experience the trip of a lifetime.
Dear Jeff and Camille – So nice to get your holiday greeting and bad me for not ever writing “officially” to thank you both for the most amazing experience of my life – Simbambili and my safari experience. Your nose and ears must have been itching dozens upon dozens of times as I’ve recounted my adventure to friends and family and colleagues – and most recently, in our holiday letter. It still seems a bit like a dream…Funny, people have said things like, “Wow, now you can check that off your bucket list.” And I always reply, “Check it off?! Now I just want to go on safari again and again!” My time at Simbambili was life changing and life enhancing and there’s something about Africa that seems to have gotten under my skin. Guess that happens doesn’t it? Endless thanks to you both for helping to make my childhood dream come true! You guys rock! Happy holidays and all good things to you in the New Year ahead! Warmly, Melissa
Hi Ilze- Nicole and I are back in the US and wanted to thank you again for all the help that you gave us to make our trip truly fantastic! We're happy to give you some feedback on some places that stood out to us, as well as some learnings for future travelers. I'll also try to address your questions in the respective sections. Below is a quick summary: South Africa
- Cape Town accommodations were fine. Nothing "special" but we knew that going in. It was very comfortable, clean and convenient.
- The lodge in Franschhoek was really nice.
- The Elephant Lodge was a really nice location. Very unique and charming.
- You definitely warned us about the distance between all locations - we probably should of listened. While it was great to see the towns that we did, it was often after a long day of driving only to have to leave again first thing in the morning.
- All in all, the locations and lodges were all lovely in S. Africa.Mozambique
- Everything was amazing! LOVED Islands of Siankaba.
- We've already given feedback here. It was an amazing island. Beautiful, tranquil, etc.
- The Banguerra Lodge had a lot of potential. It was beautiful, the food was good.
Overall Feedback Aside from the above, we were very very happy with all the other elements of our trip (food, boarding, activities, transfers). That said, we thought we’d summarize some things that may have made our trip a bit more seamless so that you can pass along to future customers. Looking forward to connecting at your convenience. Thanks again for your help in planning a truly amazing, life changing trip. I hope the feedback above is helpful, and in the context that it was intended - which is that all in all, we are VERY happy. Have a great day. Colby
- We really loved the Stanley.
- Travel time between parks.
