Choosing the right safari Last week I promised a few more tips on how to choose the right safari. Last week I covered: 1. When do you want to go? 2. Winter vs Summer? 3. Malaria Free Safaris? 4. Your budget? With these 4 questions covered we can look at getting a little more specific about your experience. [...]
One of my colleagues Neil recently attended a friend’s wedding in Rwanda (how is that for something different!). So while he was there, trekking with the endangered mountain Gorillas was a highlight that he could’t miss. I sat down with him once he was back and asked him a few questions that I thought would [...]
From my colleague Neil on his recent trip to Rwanda this awesome picture of a Mom and baby! Gorillas are so human like in their nature and you can just see the love and security that a mother offers her offspring!
With Gorilla permits in Uganda being reduced for the low season (October, November, March & April) to $350 per permit rather than the usual $500 per permit, l thought I would tell you a bit about these wonderful animals and what it is actually like to see them, in the wild within touching distance! One [...]

Hi Jeff and Leisl! We JUST walked in the door from our fabulous holiday! We all cannot thank you ENOUGH for all the hard work and effort that all of you put into this vacation for us. Believe it or not, absolutely EVERYTHING fell into place.....there was NEVER anything that was not taken care of from our first day in the Mara until the minute we left Zanzibar. Even the fire at Nairobi airport did NOT affect us or our travel plans. Of course we are ALL quite jet-lagged at the moment and cannot think straight. My son and daughter, who have the expensive cameras, have easily over a 1,000 pictures each while I have a mere 400 photos. Liesl, just to let you know, we saw 2 amazing crossings!!! And happily, without any fatalities! (However, there was one baby 'wildie' who got stuck in the rocks :() I will be in touch next week....once I am clear headed. THANK you ALL for an EXTRAORDINARY job!!! I will be happy to address any questions that you would like. My children are both quite familiar with tripadvisor. They will be posting their feedback.....all very positive in that website. They will probably be posting about the individual camps and guides. I am not sure they are familiar with your organization and I would be happy to pass along any place where they can comment on your excellant skills. We'll be in touch! Best, Pattie
Hi Liesl! Livingstone and the Riverclub were wonderful. Victoria Falls is one of the most breath-taking sites we've ever seen! No one minded getting a little wet and we got some fabulous photos. The market there was fun for the girls. The staff at the Riverclub were top notch! We really enjoyed getting to know everyone. The highlight there has to be the hippos - the sundowner boat trip was so fun, we did it both evenings. In Mombo, we got to see the leopard Legadima and her cub AND one of the white rhinos with her 3 week old baby! We were told that there hadn't been a rhino siting in a few months so we were thrilled. We're still going through our thousands of photos (we had 5 cameras between the 4 of us), re-living the fun! I know that Kevin and I will be looking to do a few more safari holidays while we're still in Africa. So, we may be in touch for help with that.. Here's wishing you all the best for the New Year! Thanks for all your help! Warmest Regards, Dana
It was an absolutely great trip and we loved every minute of it. It was so worth it to upgrade and the accommodations were excellent and all our guides were superb! I am very glad you used you and will absolutely recommend you to everyone I know who will want to see the gorillas!
Jeff & IIze, We had a fabulous time in South Africa! Our whole trip was incredible, and we couldn't believe how friendly everyone was, how beautiful the sights were, and how amazing the food and wine was. We absolutely loved Simbambili Game Lodge, we had a wonderful ranger and felt like part of the family during our stay there. We also enjoyed Lion Sands River Lodge, and had some wonderful game sightings while we were there. Thank you so much for arranging such a great trip. Best, Liz & Jonathan
If you are looking for an African adventure, look no further than African Safari Consultants to help you plan it. We were planning a self-drive tour through Namibia, a visit to Victoria Falls and stays at several of the fly-in game-viewing lodges in Botswana. While we had a pretty good idea of the places we wanted to see, we needed help with customizing our itinerary and making all of the necessary arrangements. Having sent our queries to six companies that claim to specialize in African safaris, this was the only one that provided a timely and detailed response. Our consultant was Ilze Foxx from the Cape Town office, who provided us with the best service we have ever had from a travel agent. She helped us shape our ideas into a travel plan that provided everything we could have wished for in terms of game viewing, sightseeing, accommodation and transport. Her attention to detail and availability at all times, both before and during the trip, made our African experience the trip of a lifetime.
