I decided on the scenic Midlands Meander instead of the national motorway when making my way towards the Southern Drakensberg. The R103 is just that – a meander. I started in Hilton which is just a slipway off the national motorway. Hilton is a gorgeous town that is well known in South Africa for its [...]

Jeff and Liesl, We want to let you know just how much we enjoyed our vacation and appreciate the quality of service we got the entire time. Most importantly, every day was breathtaking and brought a new experience that surprised and intrigued us. That was the ingenious part of the sequencing of the trip you put together as each segment seemed to build onto the prior. We would not have been ready for the Zambia portions until we had experienced Botswana (with a much needed break in between) and even in-country, each camp seemed naturally to flow from one to another. As we arrived at Chiawa, we thought, "What else could we see," and were amazed and delighted with the river safaris and the creative dining experiences there. Traveling for 3 weeks in Africa is bound to have some challenges and logistical problems. We had none. Sixteen flights, seven stops, I don't know how many transfers - everything was perfect. The food and hospitality at the camps were incredible. In particular: Cape Town - Charlie blew us away with his knowledge and careful planning. A perfect intro to South Africa. Xakanaxa - Baams, our guide got us into the spiritual aspect of being on Safari, and the animal variety was fantastic! Savute - Lucky was our guide, and he really impressed the boys with his tracking and we saw amazing lion scenes. Royal Hotel - Loved the Island tour (Though we suggest they overhaul the lunch and dinner menus.) Magnificent property. Chindeni - Amazing property, really enjoyed talking with the manager, James. Peter, our guide was the family's favorite. Chamilandu - Joe's personal favorite of ALL, loved everything. Chiawa - See comments above. All of the camps we surprisingly responsive to our dietary needs, especially in Zambia, where the worked really hard to make great food that was diary-free (Chiawa did the best with the amazing chocolate desserts!). Zambia really captured our hearts. My head has still not left Africa even after 6 days. I took 4000 photos and have begun to narrow them down. I will send you a Zenfolio link once I get everything organized. We will definitely be sending you other customers as we share our enthusiasm for Africa and are committed to return ourselves. With much appreciation, Joe and Meredith Callanan
Thank you very much!I can’t begin to explain to you how wonderful everything was. To be honest, even though I had agreed to everything, I was still a little skeptical about some of the recommendations you had made. Turns out, some of the things I had been most skeptical of (Cape Town, Victoria Falls, San Camp) were the absolute highlights. You and your team did a remarkable job and Milena and I have already begun trying to figure out a way to get back. If there is ever anything that we can do to help you all convince prospective clients that this is something that they need to do, we’d love to help.As far as pictures go, Milena and I are far from good. However, that didn’t stop us from taking ~2,000 photos. I’ll send you an invitation to our Snapfish folder. Additionally, I’m a fan of African Safari Consultants on facebook. I’m not sure if that gives you access to my photos, but if it does, we’ve got a bunch of them posted there as well. Again, most of them are pretty bad, but if you happen to see anything that you’d like to use, they’re all yours. If I get some time later today or over the weekend, I’ll try to put together a more thorough review of everywhere we went/stayed. Needless to say, we were impressed by everything and we only have good things to say.Thank you all so much for everything you did.
Hi Ilze Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The honeymoon was great! We enjoyed both safaris a lot, and got to see so many different animals and the wildebeest crossing. We were glad to be able to observe and learn the differences between the two reserves. We especially enjoyed the Mara Bushtops camp. The guides, accommodations and service were all superb. Samburu Intrepids was also very nice, and we had a great guide and the place itself had great service. However, we felt it was a notch below the Bushtops in terms of luxury. Also, there were a few families with children there, so we didn't feel like it may have been the best place for a honeymoon. Overall, it was a great trip. Thanks very much for your help, and I will be in touch for future safari trips! Jeff
Hi Ilze, We are writing to thank you for organising such a fantastic trip for us. Without doubt, it was the best trip ever for us, even though we travel overseas from Australia regularly and all our trips have been great. Africa was the last of the major continents for us to visit and your superb organisation made it wonderfully unforgettable for us. Without exception, we loved each of the places you recommended and arranged for us to stay in: Cape Cadogan/Cape Town, Villa Violet/Windhoek, Kulala, Swakopmund, Dora !Nawas, Etosha/Onguma, Ilala/Victoria Falls, Chobe, Savute and Xugana. Each location provided something a little different and fascinating. Each was excellent: friendly, helpful and professional staff, outstanding accommodation, food and drinks, fabulous guides and activities, great wildlife and settings. We were enthralled. And your travel advice was flawless: accurate, comprehensive and valuable. We can't thank you enough for making our first journey to African (and hopefully not our last) so absolutely wonderful. We also really appreciated meeting you, even briefly, in Cape Town. We have no hesitation in recommending you and your company to any of our friends who plan to visit Africa. Also we would be glad to post our views on your website or trip advisor. We plan to place enthusiastic reviews of each of the places we stayed and of the activities on trip advisor, but first wanted to pass on our most sincere thanks to you for your efforts on our behalf. Thanks to your efforts our trip was flawless, seamless and fantastic. You do great work! Thanks again so much. Very best wishes, Don and Gael Gartside.
Hi Jeff and Lise – I wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time on our trip to Tanzania (I travelled with the Haurand party). Our accommodations were great, and our guide, Solomon was simply the best! I don’t know how else to describe him – to say that he was great, or wonderful, or professional or knowledgeable simply doesn’t do him justice! He was all of that and more! When I return (and I’m already thinking about how and when to return to Africa), I’ll definitely request Solomon as our guide again! I’ve attached a few photos, and I’ll send a subsequent email with a few more. I have ‘friended/liked’ your page on Facebook, and I’ve posted more pictures on my FB page if you’d like to see them. I invested in a new camera for this trip, and it was a good investment!! Thank you again for your assistance, and your attention to detail, and for everything that you did! Sandra
